My Taste for Music is Different

This is what I have to say to those who are always wondering why my type of music is very different, why I prefer listening to K-Pop than listening to English music. I was asked several times before why my playlist sounds weird and this statement from Kim Sunggyu explained it all. I believe that we may be separated by language and cultural differences but one thing is for sure - music makes us connected...

The Good Samaritan - Part 1
by Sharla Guenther

On one occasion, an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher”, he asked, “What must I do to inherit eternal life?”
Jesus replied, “What is written in the Bible?  What do you think?"  The man answered, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.”
“That is right!"  Jesus said.  "Do this and you will live forever in Heaven."  But the man wanted to know more so asked Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?”
Jesus decided to answer this question with a parable to help everyone who was listening understand.  Jesus said:  There once was a Jewish man walking along a road.  He was coming from Jerusalem and was heading to Jericho, which was a full day or two of walking.
The road was rocky and there were small hills all around.  The man was just humming to himself and enjoying the nice day when suddenly a group of men jumped out from behind a hill.  They took all his belongings and tore off most of his clothes.  They didn’t want him to follow them so they beat him up very badly, and left him lying and bleeding on the side of the road.
A few minutes later a priest was walking down the same path and noticed the man lying on the side of the road.  Do you know what he did?  You’d think he would run over and help the man.  Instead he crossed the road and walked on the other side and acted like he didn’t see the man.
After an hour or so later another man called a Levite was walking down the road.  Levites were people that assisted priests with their work.  He would probably help the man.  But you know what he did?  He slowed down and walked a little closer to the man, but then kept walking without helping him at all.
You might be thinking that maybe the man lying by the side of the road looked like he was resting or something, that’s why the priest and the Levite didn’t stop to help.  The trouble is, it was easy to tell he was badly hurt.  The man was bleeding, had most of his clothes ripped off him, and he was bruised and hardly breathing.
Just a few minutes later another man came walking.  He was a Samaritan.  One thing you should know about Samaritans is that Jews didn’t like them.  Jews usually didn’t treat Samaritans very well, so they never got along.  The man who was dying on the road was a Jew.  So what do you think the Samaritan did?  You’d think he would walk by and maybe even laugh at the man.
But as soon as he saw the man he went over to him and felt compassion for him.  He put bandages on his sores and poured oil and wine (which were quite expensive) on the sores to prevent them from getting worse.  Then he lifted the man on his own donkey and took him to a hotel to take care of him.
The next day the Samaritan took out enough money so the man could stay at the hotel until he was well enough to leave.  He paid the man at the front desk and asked him to take care of the man.  If he wasn’t better after about  two months the Samaritan would come back and pay for any extra cost.
After Jesus finished the story he asked, “Which of the three men do you think was a neighbor to the man who was left beaten on the side of the road?”
The man who asked him the question at the beginning replied, “The one who had compassion and helped him."  Jesus told him, "Go and do the same.”

PLATE # 1: CREATING A VECTOR COMPASS USING INKSCAPE

STEP 1
Open up Inkscape and create a new document.
STEP 2
Create a small circle. Right click à Fill and Stroke. Make sure that fill color is white, the stroke color is black. Go to Store Style and set the width to 2.5 px.
STEP 3 A
Now select Stars and Polygon Tool. At the change toolbar make sure you have the following parameters:
Corners = 4
Spoke = 0.160
Randomized = 0.016
STEP 3 B
Create the star, making sure that CTRL is pressed, so that any rotation is based on 15 degree increments.
STEP 4
Align the stars with the circle by selecting both of the shapes and press Shift + CTRL + A for Align and Distribute. Select Relative to –> Page and click on –> Center on Vertical Axis and click on –> Center on Horizontal Axis. Both objects should be aligned with the center of the page.
STEP 5
Now select the star and duplicate it using CTRL + D. using press < to reduce the size. This is for the background to set of needles. Reduce it until you are satisfied with the size. Rotate it while pressing CTRL until the background needles are perpendicular with the main needs. Press END to send the object to the back.
STEP 6
Duplicate the original star and put this duplicate into a new layer, and scale down the duplicate.
STEP 7
Hide the old layer.
STEP 8
Edit the nodes of the star by converting the object to path. You can use SHIFT + CTRL + C.
STEP 9
Press F2 to edit the path by nodes. Select the 4 bottom end points of the star and click Break path at selected nodes.
STEP 10
Select the base vertices of a triangle and click join selected endpoints with a new segment. Keep doing thin until every triangle is completed. You may need to break each triangle apart and rejoin them again later so that its vertices do not interfere while you are selecting new nodes.
STEP 11
Select two base vertices and click Insert Nodes between Segments. Repeat this for each triangle. Each base segment has a new center node.
STEP 12
Delete a single base corner node from each triangle.
STEP 13
Make the previous layer visible again, move the new layer under the old layer and rotate each triangle of the new layer.
STEP 14
Create 2 big circles and adjust the stroke setting of the outer circle.
Fill & Stoke –> Stroke Style –> Width 2 px dashes.
STEP 15
Create another circle and a small rectangle.
STEP 16
Add some details like texts for the “Directions”.
STEP 17
Choose the color combination you like for your vector file.

"Overdosed" by EXO

My growing fondness with EXO has transformed me into an EXO-L for over three years now and still counting. I may look into other K-Pop Bands and join other fandoms but one thing is for sure, I still get excited whenever I hear their upcoming comebacks, CFs, movies, Web dramas and MVs. Many have left the fandom due to the unfortunate events that has happened in the past but this doesn't stop me from loving them. Even though there were no longer OT12 now (cries like the Han River),  I still support the remaining members (OT9) in their activities online (Just because I am an international fan). I wish OT9's career will go a long long way just like INFINITE's (my K-Pop Band Soulmate).

Although each EXO-L's have their own ultimate bias, ultimate pairing, and whatsoever, we EXO-L's find all of the members special in their own ways. Aside from their handsome looks, each of the members have their own unique character that makes them stand out. Chanyeol's big ears, Chen's sweet camel smile, Xiumin's monolid, Lay's sexy dancing, Kai's tan skin, Sehun's sweetness being the maknae, Baekhyun's silliness, and Kyungsoo's big eyes (oh so adorable) and Suho's church oppa image makes them one of a kind. They have good vocals too and their dancing is pretty good although I still prefer Infinite's choreography because of their synchronized dancing.

I still remember the first time I saw them. Actually my sister introduced them to me through their music video "Wolf". Back then I was a bit confused about their image and concept so I did not like them at first. But then, thanks to my fondness in watching K-Dramas, especially that of Kim Soo Hyun's "My Love from Another Star". I was so in love with him to the fact that I even downloaded the drama and saved it in my phone. I've been watching it for ages and got overwhelmed with the plot that I have to download the official soundtracks of the drama. While looking for some OSTs in YouTube I discovered a fan-made video of the drama and she used the song "Miracles in December". I guess its a miracle. I was captivated by the main vocals' sweet melody. Listening to this song makes me reminisce the time when I first saw them. hahaha.

I feel like I've been writing for ages since I started this blog about EXO... randomness strikes.... and now I have to cut this long drama....
